With more than 47 years in South Africa’s motor retail industry, Vince Vermaak has built a reputation for leadership founded on integrity, operational excellence and an unwavering commitment to people. Under his guidance, Phase V Automotive has grown from a single dealership into a diversified automotive group, earning the trust of customers, OEM partners and employees through consistent delivery and long-term relationships.

Alongside him, Matthew Vermaak represents the next generation of leadership, helping shape the future of Phase V Automotive while building on the principles that have defined the business from the beginning. As Chairman of the BMW Group Retailer Council, he brings both strategic industry insight and a progressive perspective to the business, helping navigate the evolving landscape of modern automotive retail. Together, they combine decades of experience with a shared vision for innovation, ensuring Phase V Automotive continues to evolve without losing sight of the people, relationships and values that drive its success.

Technical Apprentice

Location: Gauteng

Overview

A Technical Apprentice at Phase V Automotive is the first step towards a rewarding career in the automotive industry. Working alongside experienced technicians, you’ll receive practical training while developing the technical knowledge and skills required to service, diagnose and repair vehicles to manufacturer standards.

If you’re passionate about automotive technology, eager to learn and committed to delivering quality workmanship, this is an opportunity to build your future with one of South Africa’s leading automotive groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist technicians with vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs.
  • Learn manufacturer-approved diagnostic and repair procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance under supervision.
  • Maintain workshop equipment and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
  • Follow workshop processes, health and safety standards, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Complete technical training and apprenticeship assessments.
  • Develop product knowledge and practical workshop skills through ongoing learning.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric), with Mathematics and Physical Science preferred.
  • A passion for the automotive industry and vehicle technology.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
  • Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s licence or willingness to obtain one.
  • Previous mechanical experience or technical studies will be advantageous.

Accountant

Location: Finance

Overview

The Accountant supports the financial integrity of the business through accurate reporting, sound financial controls and effective commercial support. This role contributes to informed decision-making across the Phase V Automotive Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Manage general ledger transactions.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end reporting.

The HR Administrator plays an important role in supporting our people and maintaining the smooth day-to-day operation of the dealership. From onboarding new employees and payroll administration to employee relations and HR compliance, this role helps ensure every team member is supported throughout their journey at Phase V Automotive.

Working closely with management, you’ll contribute to a professional, compliant and people-focused workplace that reflects the standards of our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage payroll administration, leave records and time & attendance processes.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding, contracts and offboarding documentation.
  • Support employee relations, disciplinary processes and HR administration.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure legislative compliance.
  • Provide HR guidance and administrative support to managers and employees.
  • Assist with HR reporting, audits and internal communications.
  • Ensure dealership HR practices align with company policies and South African labour legislation.

Requirements

  • Relevant Human Resources qualification.
  • Previous experience in a generalist Human Resources role.
  • Experience with payroll administration and HR systems.
  • Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation.
  • Strong organisational, communication and administrative skills.
